Product Introduction

Orthodontic NiTi color arch wires combine the mechanical advantages of nickel titanium alloys with aesthetic, low-friction surface coatings. They are widely used in the initial alignment and leveling stages of orthodontic treatment, especially for patients who prefer a more discreet appearance.

Nitinol (Nickel Titanium, NiTi) is a shape memory alloy that undergoes a reversible phase transformation in its crystal structure:

At higher temperatures, the material exists in the Austenite phase (stronger, original shape).

When cooled or mechanically stressed, it transforms into the Martensite phase (more easily deformed).

Upon unloading or reheating above the transformation temperature (Af), it returns to the Austenite phase and recovers its original shape.

This thermoelastic martensitic transformation is responsible for two key properties:

Shape Memory Effect

The wire can be deformed in the martensitic state and will return to its pre-set shape when heated above its transformation temperature.

Superelasticity

At oral temperature, superelastic NiTi wires deliver continuous, gentle force over a wide deflection range, automatically recovering without permanent deformation.
