Product Introduction

It is commonly used in the construction of storage tanks and vessels that require a flat surface for sealing against other equipment or piping. It provide excellent corrosion resistance, making it an ideal choice for storage tanks that hold corrosive materials. Many storage tank installations use titanium 150# flat-backed flanges with titanium bolts welded into the flanges.

Historically, polyethylene tanks are used to store sodium hypochlorite. One of the main problems with polyethylene tanks is related to the outlet fitting at the bottom of the storage tank (i.e. below the liquid level). For the case below the tank level, an integrally formed full drain fitting may be the best solution. If the storage tank does not have an integrally molded full drain fitting for the larger tank, titanium flange fittings can also be used. Many installations use it with titanium bolts welded into the flanges. Use a full-face gasket between the titanium 150# flat-backed flange and the inner storage tank wall. The titanium flange is at a flat point on the tank wall (usually a 90-degree position), drilled for the titanium bolts, and center drilled to match the flange's ID. Gaskets and valves can then be used on the outside of the tank, which when tightened compress the inner gasket and seal the connection.

Benefits

  • 1. Corrosion resistance: Titanium provides superior corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in storage tanks that contain corrosive materials, such as acids, alkalis, and other chemicals.

2. High strength: Titanium is a strong and durable material that can withstand the weight and pressure of a storage tank.

3. Lightweight: Titanium is a lightweight material that can help to reduce the overall weight of the storage tank.

4. Biocompatibility: Titanium is biocompatible, making it suitable for use in applications where contact with human tissue or bodily fluids is required.

5. Easy to clean: Flat-backed flanges are designed for easy cleaning and maintenance, which is important in applications where the build-up of deposits and scale can occur.

When selecting titanium 150# flat-backed flanges for storage tanks, it is important to consider factors such as the size and dimensions of the flange, the material and pressure rating of the flange, and the specific requirements of the application. It is a suitable choice for use in storage tanks that require a flat surface for sealing against other equipment or piping. They provide excellent corrosion resistance, and high strength, and are lightweight, making them an ideal choice for corrosive material storage. As a titanium flange manufacturer with more than 20 years of experience, we make the design and material selection carefully to ensure that it is suitable for the specific requirements of the application.
