What are the types of titanium anodes?

1. Soluble anode and insoluble anode

The soluble anode plays the role of supplementing metal ions and conducting electricity in the electrolysis process, while the insoluble anode only plays the role of conducting electricity. The earliest insoluble anodes were graphite and lead series anodes. In 1970s, titanium anodes were used in electrolysis and electroplating industry as a new technology. At present, insoluble anode can be divided into two categories: chlorine evolution anode and oxygen evolution anode. Chlorine evolution anode is mainly used in chloride electrolyte system. Chlorine gas is released from anode during electroplating, so it is called chlorine evolution anode; oxygen evolution anode is mainly used in sulfate, nitrate, hydrocyanate and other electrolyte systems, and oxygen is released from anode during electroplating, so it is called oxygen evolution anode. Lead alloy anode oxygen evolution anode, titanium anode according to its surface catalytic coating has the function of oxygen evolution, chlorine evolution or both.

2. Titanium anode for chlor alkali industry

Compared with graphite electrode, the working voltage of graphite anode in caustic soda production by diaphragm method is 8A / DM2, and the coated anode can be multiplied to 17a / DM2. In this way, under the same electrolysis environment, the product can be doubled, and the quality of the product is high and the purity of chlorine gas is high.

3. Titanium anode for electroplating

Insoluble anode for electroplating is a kind of noble metal oxide coating with high electrochemical catalytic performance on titanium substrate (mesh, plate, strip, tubular, etc.), which contains high stability valve metal oxide. The new type of insoluble titanium anode has high electrochemical catalytic energy, oxygen evolution overpotential is about 0.5 V lower than that of lead alloy insoluble anode, with remarkable energy saving, high stability, no pollution of plating solution, light weight and easy replacement. The oxygen evolution overpotential of the new insoluble titanium anode is also lower than that of the platinum plated insoluble anode, but its service life is increased by more than one time. It is widely used as anode or auxiliary anode in various electroplating. It can replace conventional lead based alloy anode. Under the same conditions, it can reduce cell voltage and save power consumption. Insoluble titanium anode has good stability (chemical and electrochemical) and long service life. This anode is widely used in nickel, gold, chromium, zinc, copper plating and other non-ferrous metal industry

4.Pb-Titanium anodes

Pb-Titanium anode belongs to oxygen evolution anode. The electrolyte of oxygen evolution reaction is sulfuric acid and sulfate, which is mainly used in electrolytic metallurgy. This kind of anode has the defect that the geometric size will change during electrolysis. In the electrolysis process, the lead anode matrix is first transformed into lead sulfate, and then to lead oxide. Lead sulfate is an intermediate layer, which is an insulator and acts as a chemical barrier layer. It can protect the inner lead matrix in sulfuric acid environment. Lead oxide in the outer layer is a practical electrode. Oxygen evolution reaction occurs on it. The oxygen evolution potential of lead oxide is very high, and it increases rapidly with the increase of current density. This characteristic of lead alloy anode is determined by the inherent characteristics of its outer layer material, lead oxide, which is a poor conductor of electricity. In addition, in the process of electrolysis, the electrochemical performance of the anode structure of lead oxide decreases continuously, and the internal stress causes the oxide layer by layer to fall off. In addition, the formation of lead peroxide also leads to the continuous dissolution of the oxide. As the intermediate layer, lead sulfate is converted into lead oxide again and becomes a new electrocatalytic active substance of outer oxide. The inner lead matrix is oxidized again A new intermediate protective layer of lead sulfate was formed. Therefore, in the process of electrolysis, lead and its alloy elements continuously dissolve into the electrolyte and precipitate, resulting in solution pollution and cathode product pollution.
