ASTM F2063 Nitinol wire is a nickel–titanium (NiTi) shape memory alloy composed of approximately equal parts of nickel and titanium. The name "Nitinol" originates from its discovery at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL) in the 1960s (Nickel + Titanium + NOL).

This advanced material is widely recognized for its shape memory effect and superelasticity, making it an essential solution for medical devices, aerospace components, robotics, and precision engineering applications.

1. Shape Memory Effect

Nitinol can be deformed at low temperature and will recover its original shape when heated above its transformation temperature (Af).
