MMO Titanium Ribbon Anode Cathodic Protection
MMO Ribbon: Base titanium: ASTM B863 Gr1; Size: 6.35*0.635mm Coil length: 152m/coil
Product Introduction
The MMO (Mixed Metal Oxide) Titanium Ribbon Anode is a high-performance anode used in Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) systems. It consists of a titanium substrate (ASTM B265 Grade 1) coated with a catalytic layer of iridium–tantalum oxides (IrO₂/Ta₂O₅).
Also known as:
DSA (Dimensionally Stable Anode)
PMTA (Precious Metal Coated Titanium Anode)
OCTA (Oxide Coated Titanium Anode)
This type of anode provides excellent electrocatalytic activity, high conductivity, and long-term stability in harsh environments.
Cathodic Protection Principle
Cathodic protection is an electrochemical technique used to prevent metal corrosion. By applying an external DC current:
The protected structure becomes the cathode
Oxidation (corrosion) reactions are suppressed
Metal deterioration is significantly reduced or eliminated
Types of Cathodic Protection
Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) – uses external power and inert anodes (such as MMO titanium)
Sacrificial Anode Protection – uses more reactive metals (e.g., zinc, aluminum)
