Product Introduction

MMO (Mixed Metal Oxide) Titanium Ribbon Anodes are high-performance impressed current anodes designed for long-term cathodic protection systems. Manufactured from Grade 1 titanium ribbon and coated with a precious metal oxide catalyst, these anodes provide excellent dimensional stability, low consumption rates, and exceptionally long service life in a wide range of environments including soil, freshwater, brackish water, and seawater.

The MMO coating is engineered to deliver outstanding electrochemical performance while maintaining low polarization and high current efficiency. By adjusting the oxide composition, the anode can be optimized for different operating conditions and electrolyte environments.

MMO titanium ribbon anodes are widely used for the cathodic protection of above-ground storage tank bottoms, buried pipelines, reinforced concrete structures, and marine facilities.

Key Features

Long Service Life

The MMO coating exhibits an extremely low consumption rate of approximately 2 mg/A·year, allowing the anode system to achieve a service life of 30 years or more under properly designed operating conditions.

Excellent Chemical Stability

Maintains stable performance even in:

Low pH environments

Chloride-rich solutions

Marine environments

Aggressive soils

High Current Efficiency

The low polarization characteristics of the MMO coating ensure efficient current discharge and reduced operating costs.

Dimensional Stability

Unlike sacrificial anodes, MMO titanium ribbon anodes maintain their shape and dimensions throughout operation, ensuring consistent performance.

Low Consumption Rate

Typical coating consumption:

1–6 mg/A·year

This significantly extends operating life and reduces maintenance requirements.

Superior Conductivity

Titanium substrate combined with conductive MMO coating provides excellent electrical conductivity and uniform current distribution.

Installation Guidelines

Ribbon Anode with Backfill

For direct burial applications, conductive backfill is recommended to:

Reduce grounding resistance

Improve current distribution

Extend anode service life

Increase system efficiency

Typical backfill materials include:

Gypsum powder

Bentonite

Sodium sulfate mixtures

Pipeline Installation

When ribbon anodes are installed parallel to pipelines:

The anode should be electrically connected at regular intervals.

Recommended spacing should not exceed 305 meters.

Proper spacing ensures uniform current distribution and protection effectiveness.

Tank Bottom Protection

Ribbon anodes are commonly installed in grid patterns beneath storage tank bottoms, providing uniform current distribution across the protected surface.
