Product Introduction
Product Overview
Ru/Ir (Ruthenium–Iridium oxide) coated titanium electrodes are high-performance dimensionally stable anodes (DSA) designed for saltwater swimming pool chlorination systems.
These electrodes are manufactured using high-purity Grade 1 titanium substrates coated with mixed metal oxide catalytic layers. The coating enables efficient electrochemical chlorine generation through the electrolysis of dissolved sodium chloride (NaCl) in water.
This technology provides:
Continuous on-site chlorine generation
Stable water disinfection performance
Reduced chemical chlorine consumption
Environmentally friendly operation
Working Principle
In saltwater chlorination systems, dissolved salt is converted into disinfecting chlorine compounds through electrochemical reactions.
Electrochemical Reactions
Overall Reaction:
NaCl + H₂O → NaClO + H₂↑
Anode Reaction:
2Cl⁻ → Cl₂ + 2e⁻
Cathode Reaction:
2H⁺ + 2e⁻ → H₂
Solution Reaction:
2NaOH + Cl₂ → NaCl + NaClO + H₂O
The generated products include:
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl)
Sodium hypochlorite (NaClO)
These compounds effectively destroy:
Bacteria
Algae
Organic contaminants
