Zirconium and titanium are complementary sister metals in corrosion resistance, they are important structural materials under the conditions of high temperature, high pressure and heavy corrosion chemical process. Their differences are found in chloride-free acids, acidic chloride solutions, salt solutions, alkaline solutions and organics.

Due to its acid resistance to titanium and a variety of steels, zirconium is a type of strong corrosion resistance metal that is widely used in chemical corrosion resistance equipment. The quality of the Zirconium Clad Copper rod must meet the requirements for strong corrosion and high current conditions. It must also meet the following requirements:

  1. The thickness of the zirconium layer should be uniform, which is an important requirement to ensure the service life of the Zr-clad copper rod. Generally, the thickness of the zirconium layer should be controlled within +/- 20%, and the thickness of the zirconium layer is 0.8~3mm as your need.

  2. The zirconium and copper bonding rate is that the bonding area should generally be greater than 95%. The higher the indicator, the better its conductivity. Conductivity can be tested by JB/100G A type pulse reflection ultrasonic flaw detector.

  3. Zirconium-copper bonding strength, in the course of use, the size of this index determines whether Zirconium-coated copper will cause zirconium-copper delamination due to thermal expansion and contraction. In theory, the bonding strength should pass the shear test, but the resignation test method is a destructive test, which is generally difficult to use in actual production. Before the assembly, the titanium-clad copper rod needs a certain amount of mechanical processing. When the zirconium layer is left to 0.3~0.5mm during turning and milling, if it is not separated from the substrate, the Zr-Cu bonding strength can be qualified.

Group batch requirements:
Zirconium Clad Copper rod shall be submitted for acceptance in batches. Each batch of cladding rods shall be composed of the same grade of copper, zirconium, the same section shape, the same specification, the same state and the same manufacturing method.
Inspection items and sampling

The chemical composition of the copper of the cladding rod is reported from the chemical composition of the original copper rod or ingot. The chemical composition of the zirconium is reported from the chemical composition of the original zirconium blank.
