Product Introduction

MMO disc anodes are manufactured using a titanium disc substrate conforming to ASTM B265 Grade 1 or Grade 2, coated with Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) or Platinum-based catalytic coatings. The MMO coating typically consists of IrO₂/Ta₂O₅ mixed metal oxides, which provide excellent electrocatalytic activity and long-term stability.

These anodes are designed for efficient direct current transfer through a highly conductive catalytic layer, enabling high current output with low consumption rate and excellent electrochemical performance.

They were originally developed for demanding cathodic protection applications in dams, navigation locks, and marine environments, where long service life and stable current distribution are critical.

Working Principle

The titanium substrate is naturally passivated by a stable oxide layer, while the MMO coating provides the active electrochemical surface. This combination ensures:

Low anode consumption rate

Dimensionally stable performance over time

High and uniform current distribution

With optional sealing spacers or gasket systems, disc anodes can also be installed on:

Internal pipe surfaces

Storage tanks

Curved or confined structures
